Paintball World Cup is a major event annually in which top teams from around the world compete. Europe, Asia, and even the US always have teams representing them at this event. Spectators enjoy a series of the most exhilarating adventures leading to the championship.

The world cup organizers, Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP), decided to hold the event in the Disney Wide World of Sports Stadium again in October, 2007, as in previous years.

Paintball has become an increasingly popular sport. Many paintball enthusiasts are hoping to participate in the competition. Those teams that do not qualify to compete can stay in the Disney grandstand as spectators and enjoy the excitement of the World Cup.

The World Cup is more controlled than other tournaments. Fans are allowed to watch and cheer for their teams and referees are available to supervise game play as well as penalize teams when needed.

Previously paintball was held in forest-like areas but this isn't so with the World Cup. The world cup has transformed the event into a spectator sport that is held in stadiums. This allows the fans to experience a bit of the excitement as they cheer on their favorite teams.

Paintball World Cup Rules

With PSP overseeing the annual Paintball World Cup as well as being responsible for implementation of rules. The general rules encompass areas that include: game penalties, scoring, equipment to be used, clothing and protective gear to be worn by the players, markers (paintball rifles), velocity of paintballs as well as the paintballs themselves.

In general it is against the rules for players to modify or alter masks although they can use manufacturer supplied replacements. The manufacturer guarantees aren't compromised this way. Inspection of gear before the event is required. Paintballs of all colors can be used with red and pink being the exceptions.

What should I expect as a spectator?

With this event being the largest paintball event in the world you can expect more thrilling stunts and game play like you have seen nowhere else.

Players from different continents come together to play the most exciting competition of the year. The tactics employed to seize the flag promise to keep you on the edge of your seat. On top of all that excitement, cash is awarded to the tune of $100,000 for the best teams.

In 2007 PSP enrolled the assistance of area hotels to accommodate the thousands of players coming to play in the Paintball World Cup.
