On June 27, 1981, the first ever paintball game took place with 12 players. Two participants who have been known as playing an instrumental role in what the game is today were involved.

In 1976, Hayes Noel and Bob Gurnsey, intently listened to a story told by a friend who visited Africa and hunted buffaloes. They became inspired and dreamed of a game that actually used some of the same concepts that would produce a similar energy rush.

At the time, there was no standard in paintball equipment, as players simply relied on the Nelspot 007 agricultural gun, which was a product of the Nelson Paint Company that dated back to the 1950s. These products could mark trees from a distance and were quite helpful to forestry personnel. To mark cows, cattle owners also used this type of paintball equipment.

At the very least, the most simple of paintball equipment involves paintball makers (that contain a reasonable amount of decent propellant to fire paintball markers), and shielding head gear (like masks that protect the face and eyes of a participant).

For the more intense paintball player, there is paintball equipment that offers extra protection, such as elbow pads, knee pads, outdoor packs (that hold paintball markers), gloves, throat protectors, chest protectors, as well as a cleaning swab or squeegee that cleans out paintball gun barrels – all of which are sometimes very much needed.

There is a high demand for equipment when one wishes to play paintball, as there is a large amount of paintball equipment that offers great solutions. Therefore, what is taking you so long? Collect all the necessary paintball gear you require and have a good time.
