Are you considering purchasing a high performance and competitive paintball package? Chances are, you are also looking for a higher cost.

Fortunately, there are a variety of inexpensive paintball packages that can be purchased through online retail stores, as well as traditional retail stores. However, when looking at cheaper paintball packages, you will need to keep in the mind the quality of paintball equipment you will receive.

Why Buy Cheap Paintball Packages?

The answer is simple: because you can easily afford a cheaper paintball package. Many "paintballers", especially those that are new to the sport, opt for cheap paintball packages.

They do this mainly because they are looking to get on the playing field quickly. Since often times they begin with nothing, they are anxious to acquire all of the equipment needed to begin playing. When looking at this practically, it does make a lot of sense.

When searching for cheap paintball packages, you will probably come across player kits. Such kits are great to get you started.

Often times, cheap paintball packages include a paintball gun (marker), a mask or helmet, an air tank, a hopper and a barrel plug. In some of the cheaper packages, you may even be lucky enough to find some additional accessories such as o-rings, paintball gun oil and a few paint balls.

If you are playing paintball simply for the adventure and excitement of it and are a tight budget, then cheap paintball packages are the way to go. Another advantage to buying cheaper packages is the money you will save by buying an actual package. Chances are if you were to purchase all of the items separately, you would end up spending a consider more for the gun and accessories.

Why Shouldn't You Buy Cheap Paintball Packages?

The most obvious reason is you get what you pay for. Cheap packages should be considered simply as starter packages that sometimes contain unnecessary equipment.

For instance, the hoppers that come in a package will more than likely be the regular gravity feed that are only capable of firing 11 balls per second (BPS). Such hoppers will not be effective in professional events or tournaments. Instead, you would need an electronic hopper which would have a fast shooting rate feed.

Another disadvantage of cheap paintball packages are the air tanks. Generally speaking, cheaper packages only contain a small carbon dioxide tank. Ideally, you will want to have a high pressure nitro or bigger CO2 tank. These can often be found in more complete packages that generally are more expensive.

When looking to buy a paintball set, there are two things that should never be compromised one. They are the mask and the marker.

Serious players understand the importance of purchasing a gun with a high BPS (among other features, such as easy maintenance) as well as a mask that won't fog up and can withstand the harshest weather conditions. All the while, the mask must provide superior head and eye protection.

If you are having a hard time with the drawbacks of purchasing cheap paintball packages, then it might be worth holding off on your paintball purchase until you can afford a more expensive and better quality package.
