The main aim of the game is to mark your opponents with paintballs which are propelled from paintball markers or guns. Once a player is marked, he/she is eliminated from the game.

Taking possession of the opposing team's flag or marking the other team's "General" are additional objectives of the game.

Paintball is an equipment based game and the minimum gear required to play includes such items as compressed air powered guns, paintballs which are used as ammunition, and eye protection in the event of players being hit in the eyes by the paintball.

With a muzzle velocity of 300 ft/s the paintball gun can disburse paintballs upon impact, not enough to cause skin tissue damage on contact with the face but nonetheless it is still advisable that eye protection should be worn.

Goggles, although regularly used amongst players only protect the immediate eye area and can sometimes constrict the wearer because of the strapping securing them to the head.

As an alternative the player can opt to use a paintball mask which covers the whole facial area offering complete frontal protection and at the same time providing the player with a 290 degree field of vision, which is not always the case with goggles.

The VForce Profiler is a comfortable, well designed, snug fit mask which is ideal for out on the playing field. It comes with an anti-fogging feature, another useful advantage over the wearing of goggles.

The more serious players may have other items in their kit such as knee and elbow pads, chest and throat protectors, support equipment like paintball packs, and paintball gun swabs and squeegees in case the cleaning of the paintball gun becomes necessary during the game.
